UK probes Islamic preacher for hailing Chibok abduction

A United Kingdom-based Islamic preacher, Mizanur Rahman, is being investigated by police after a video showed him praising Boko Haram for kidnapping over 200 schoolgirls.

The 31-year-old of Palmers Green, north London, claimed in the video-recording posted online that killing non-Muslims was ‘not necessarily a bad thing.’

The sect had abducted the pupils from Government Girls’ Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State since April 14.

A report by a UK tabloid, Daily Mail, said Rahman also praised the terror group for its activities.

He said in the video, “People want to make it out as though history began on the day these girls were taken from – sorry I should say these women – were taken from this high school in Nigeria.

“They didn’t do to these girls what the Nigerian government had been doing to the Muslims all these years. They didn’t rape anybody. They didn’t torture. They didn’t murder any of these girls.”

The preacher was quoted to have described the terrorist group as being “full of good messages,” including its support for al-Qaeda.

Rahman, said to be a follower of a firebrand preacher, Anjem Choudary, was convicted in 2007 for a murder-related case and bagged a six-year jail sentence. He was released from prison in 2010.

Choudary, who set up the banned Al Muhajiroun organisation with exiled Omar Bakri Muhammad, however, said Rahman was a ‘good friend’ who had given a measured response to the crisis.

He said, “I believe if you look at what he was saying it was very measured. You just have to look at the atrocities that, especially in 2011 and 2012, that were carried out against the women and child of Al Mujahideen by the Nigerian government.

“That story has not been told, and this is retaliation for that. The Americans are only interested in Nigeria because of its oil reserves. Otherwise, they would not be bothered.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said, “We are aware of the video and we are assessing its contents. We are not prepared to discuss this further.”

BREAKING NEWS: Boko Haram bombs bar & brothel joint in Adamawa state, 60 killed

Boko Haram, today bombed a bar and brothel located near a major military base in Mubi, Adamawa State. Preliminary reports disclosed that at least sixty people died in the attack at the location popularly known as "Kabang".

Two security sources in the area told SaharaReporters that a horrendous explosion rocked the bar and brothel which usually teems with civilian and military patrons. The explosion happened close to 6 pm. Nigerian time, both sources said. One of our sources said none of the casualties was a soldier, but the other stated that it was too early to determine whether any of the dead were soldiers.

The bombed facility is a short distance away from the headquarters of the Special Operations Battalion (SOB) of the Nigerian army in Mubi. The battalion is at the center of the Nigerian government's counter-offensive against Boko Haram's increasingly daring attacks on military and civilian targets.

Soldiers based in Mubi frequently join civilians to eat, drink and dance at the watering hole, our sources said, adding that military commanders generally warned soldiers not to stay at the joint past 4 p.m.

In recent weeks, Boko Haram has carried out deadly attacks in the northeast Nigerian states of Adamawa, Borno and tone, despite the Federal Government's declaration of a state if emergency in the three states.

Breaking: Islamic Suicide Bomber Trainer Accidentally Blows Up His Entire Class

In Baghdad, a terrorist who was in the middle of conducting a training for future militants, accidentally blew up an entire class, killing 21 of his students, and himself. The group was part of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, the terror group that has been participating in a string of attacks in the United States.

The incident may be viewed as a metaphor for the many lives lost in the wake of foreign and domestic terrorists’ relentless attempts to convert the nation into an extreme-religious state. In this turn of events, it appears that many innocent lives may have actually been spared. In fact, in one recent attack alone, 7 innocent people were killed.

According to recent reports, it was rumored that the instructor was in the process of showing his students how to use a suicide belt. As he was teaching, the live suicide belt actually detonated, resulting in mass fatalities.

Presidency Denies Offering Amnesty To Boko Haram

The presidency has denied offering amnesty to members of the Boko Haram sect.

This was made known by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, (picture above)addressing State House correspondents on Saturday.

Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna, had on Thursday said President Jonathan had given amnesty to members Boko Haram as part of his administration’s youth-friendly programmes and policies.

While giving an overview of youths’ position in the present administration’s transformation agenda at a special event tagged ‘A day with young leaders of Nigeria’ to mark the nation’s Democracy Day in Abuja, the minister said series of integration programmes had been lined up for members of the sect who would surrender their arms and embrace peace.

But Abati said the President did not use any word like amnesty.

He said what Jonathan said was that opportunities had been created for those who wanted to denounce terrorism through the Presidential Fact-Finding Committee and Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolutions of Conflict in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.

The presidential spokesman said,

“Let me refer you to the speech by the President. If you read the speech line-by-line, you will see that it contains the very message that the President wanted to put across.

“In that speech, if you look at, I don’t think the President used amnesty, instead he spoke about those who are willing to renounce terrorism and those who are willing to embrace peace.

“Opportunities have been created for them through the fact-finding committee and through the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolutions of Conflict in the North Eastern part of Nigeria. So I will refer you to the speech by the President.”

Abati also said the President was sad when he heard about the Friday killing of the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Idrisa Timta, who was one of the three emirs ambushed by members of the sect on Biu-Azare-Garkida Road in Borno State.

"There are issues, but there's no break up' - Christ Embassy denies Oyakhilomes breakup

A few weeks ago, a Facebook account called 'Where is Rev Anita Oyakhilome?' was created by an anonymous member of Christ Embassy International where they insinuated that all was not well in the holy matrimony of Pastor Oyakhilome and his wife of many years, Rev. Anita.

In the Facebook page, Pastor Oyakhilome was quoted as saying that there were problems in his marriage because of his wife's attitude. Speaking with his UK-based pastors and deacons at the church Bermondsey branch office on May 16th, pastor Oyakhilome allegedly said;

"I am here for your concerns about the ongoing domestic issue with my wife and I know it affects you directly, being the ones under her leadership.

“Some pastors’ wives think when they marry a pastor, they are equal to the pastor. My wife thinks so. As a matter of fact, Rev. Tom was her pastor before I married her and Rev. Ray and Evang. Owase were her leaders long before I married her. How come she thinks she’s senior to them now?  I already started Christ Embassy before I married her. I didn’t marry her and said we should start Christ Embassy. I was already ‘pastoring.’ I already set my sail and knew my direction before I married her. I only said ‘come and help me.’ Continue...

“Be careful of the friends you keep. My wife keeps friends who bring out the worst in her and help her see the worst in people, instead of keeping friends that will help her vision, especially as the wife of a global pastor like me.”

"Bitterness is prolonged and accumulated anger. My wife is always angry and bitter,” he was quoted as saying.

Reacting to this quotes and reports, someone from the Church who spoke with a Punch reporter said "There are issues, yes, but the Facebook post is an absolute fallacy."

Another church member who identified herself as Pastor Mercy, said the report was false. "It is not true; it is a rumour. All these things are make-up stories.”

Qatar Accused of ‘Buying’ Right to Host 2022 World Cup

Fifa is facing fresh allegations of corruption over its controversial decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar.

The Sunday Times  has obtained millions of secret documents - emails, letters and bank transfers - which it alleges are proof that the disgraced Qatari football official Mohamed Bin Hammam (picture above) made payments totalling US$5m (£3m) to football officials in return for their support for Qatar's successful bid for the 2022 World Cup.

Under a front-page headline of 'Plot to buy the World Cup,' The Sunday Times alleges that Mohamed Bin Hammam, a Qatari who used to be a FIFA vice president, was lobbying on his country's behalf ahead of the vote in December 2010.

The newspaper alleges that Bin Hammam made dozens of payments to top football officials in Africa as well as Jack Warner and Reynald Temarii, former FIFA executive committee members for CONCACAF and Oceania.

The Sunday Times said that bin Hamman declined to respond to the allegations and that members of Qatar's bid committee denied any link to the former FIFA official, saying he played no secret role in their campaign.

Qatari organizers did not immediately respond to The Associated Press' request for comment.

The allegations come less than two weeks before the start of the World Cup in Brazil.

Son Used Father's Passport As A Sketchbook, Dad Gets Stuck In South Korea (Photos)

A Chinese man is stranded in South Korea because his 4-year-old son decided to use his passport as a canvas.

The man who has only been identified as “Chen,” posted the picture online after officials in South Korea told him them they would not be able to accept his passport in its current state.

The man’s son, perhaps inspired by the colorful swirls adorning the pages of the document, added his own scribbles and sketches and rendered the passport invalid.

It’s likely the man will remain in South Korea until he is able to get the necessary documentation from Chinese officials (or, alternatively, growing a thin beard to match his new picture and hoping nobody in customs notices).
