The surprising sleep habits of the Rich and Famous (Infographic)

This Article was posted on Entrepreneur.com about the rich and famous sleeping habits.
Thomas Edison thought sleep was a waste of time, preferring instead to take a series of daily power naps. So did Leonardo da Vinci. Nikola Tesla clocked about two of hours of shuteye per night. The secret to their success? Perhaps it was sleep deprivation-induced delirium.
Maybe they knew something we don’t. After all, they were geniuses.

According to Entrepreneur, mere mortals like us are constantly reminded that we require eight straight, restful hours of sleep to function, yet some of the most enduring achievers defy that logic. Lucky them, they somehow thrive on minimal amounts of slumber. Donald Trump is one of the sleep-starved elite. The bedhead-defying billionaire real estate mogul scrapes by on only three to four hours a night, but says it gives him a competitive edge. Apparently it’s working.

Meanwhile our commander-in-chief, President Barack Obama, logs more sleep than you might think: he reportedly nods off at 1 a.m. and rises at 7 a.m. Winston Churchill wouldn’t approve. The former prime minister to the United Kingdom, who famously kept a bed in the Houses of Parliament, believed in the brain-boosting power of catnapping so much that he reportedly credited his victory in leading the nation through the Battle of Britain to his propensity for siestas.

Jonathan’s campaign earmarks $20,000 to hire anti-Buhari protesters in London

                                                            Bromide of Memo

President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign has earmarked $20,000 to hire protesters in London Thursday as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, speaks at Chatham House.

According to an internal memo seen by Premium Times, the money would be spent on mobilising the crowd, refreshing them and defraying other logistics.

The memo, which originated from the campaign’s Assistant Director, Civil Society and Support Groups (Diaspora), Peter Mozie, explained why the anti-Buhari protest is necessary, and requested the campaign’s Director in charge of Civil Society and Support Groups, Nick Eze, to immediately release the funds.

Insiders in the campaign said the funds have since been released and sent to London while extensive mobilisation of protesters is now apace.

Mr. Mozie’s memo, entitled:
“The Chatham House Rally: March Against Dictator” reads, “Nigerians in the Diaspora will converge at Chatham House, United Kingdom on Thursday, 26th of February, 2015 to show solidarity and support for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his transformation agenda in Nigeria as a surprise to the august visitor, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
“The solidarity rally will among other things address major progresses of President Goodluck Jonathan and many sins of General Muhammadu Buhari while he was military dictator.
 “Talking Points:

1, Buhari is an unrepentant Dictator, who will never change no matter the number of suits he wears.

2, Buhari overthrew the democracy and ruled Nigeria despotically subverting human rights, imprisoning the innocent and jailed Nigeria’s foremost musician, Fela Anikulapo Kuti and innocent journalists for no just reason.

3. The rally will remind the international community about Buhari’s dictatorial leaning from 1983-1984 when many innocent Nigerians were killed, our democracy raped and Nigerian constitution suspended.

4. The rally will also draw the attention of opinion leaders and diplomats in the United Kingdom that Buhari should not be in Chatham House but facing war crimes at the Hague before the International Criminal Court, ICC, for genocide against Christians and innocent Nigerians who were killed by his supporters in 2011 on his instructions when he campaigned in Minna, Niger State and asked his supporters to unleash mayhem if he lost the election.

5. Above all, to draw the attention of the international community to the fact that Nigerians have rejected Buhari thrice before and will still reject him for the 4th time. In essence, to tell the whole world that Nigerians reject Buhari.

Schedule of Event

Arrival at Chatham House – 9 a.m

Drummers playing patriotic Nigerian music – 9a.m. – 9.30 a.m

Start chanting of Anti-Buhari and anti-military songs also

Speakers start speaking about Buhari’s dictatorship at 10 a.m

Diaspora will stay at Chatham and continue to chant Anti-Buhari songs until the event is over.

The world must know a DICTATOR has come to Chatham House. A ruthless killer has come to Chatham House.

However, to defray the cost of the logistics, refreshment, mobilization and necessary permits to stage the rally we shall need the sum of $20,000.00 to cover all the expenses.

Regards

CC. Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali”

Obanikoro’s confirmation hearing stalled at Nigerian senate

Former Minister of State for Defense, Musiliu Obanikoro, was today forced to leave the Nigerian Senate after arriving there with his family to start his confirmation hearings. Mr. Obanikoro, a former senator and ambassador to Ghana, had arrived at the National Assembly with a retinue of aides and family members to begin confirmation hearings after President Goodluck Jonathan recently nominated him once again to fill the same position from which he resigned last year to pursue a failed dream to become the governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos.

Several senators told SaharaReporters that the mood in the Senate was so hostile to Mr. Obanikoro’s nomination that his sponsors, sensing imminent defeat for him, quickly arranged a suspension of the hearing to spare him a grueling session and likely public disgrace.

Mr. Obanikoro is expected to return to the Senate next week Tuesday to restart the process. A PDP senator disclosed that many of his colleagues were not happy that President Jonathan did not withdraw Obanikoro’s name as a ministerial nominee after the former minister’s involvement in a scandal that has assumed international dimensions.

After today’s disappointing outing at the Senate, Mr. Obanikoro immediately began a fresh round of lobbying of Nigerian senators, according to three senators who spoke to us. One of the sources said Mr. Obanikoro had confessed last week that he was involved in the Ekiti tape, but tried to lessen the gravity of his role as a senior Defense official telling an army general that his promotion would depend on the general’s willingness to do the illegal bidding of the PDP and the president.

Nigeria’s attorney general files affidavits to scuttle use of PVCs for elections

Affidavits filed by Nigeria’s Attorney General Mohammed Bello Adoke and just leaked to SaharaReporters reveal a stealth and controversial attempt by President Goodluck Jonathan’s government to undermine the use of permanent voter cards (PVCs) in the country’s forthcoming elections.

Judicial sources, who leaked the affidavits to SaharaReporters, said the documents show that Mr. Adoke is opposed to efforts by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free and fair elections using an updated electronic voters register and permanent voter cards.

At campaign stumps and interviews, President Jonathan has touted the adoption of PVCs as part of his legacy to ensure the empowerment of Nigerian voters, stating that the initiative would eliminate lapses in past elections. But affidavits filed by Mr. Adoke, a longtime confidante of Mr. Jonathan’s, reveal a surreptitious scheme to undermine the use of PVCs.

In one of the affidavits, Mr. Adoke, who is also Nigeria’s Minister of Justice, argued, “if the election is conducted majorly with the use of Permanent Voters’ Card, the constitutional right of the many eligible voters would be taken away from them.”

The affidavit also argued that the election “is likely to be unsuccessful if rigid use of the Permanent Voters’ Card is carried out.”

A second affidavit, also leaked to SaharaReporters, stated, “the use of card readers and/ or any other machine at the general elections must encourage eligible voters to vote without being deprived in any way.”

INEC chairman Attahiru Jega recently stated that the use of PVCs would not be to cast votes but to validate and authenticate the votes cast. The distinction, he said, was that the PVCs and card readers would prevent electoral manipulation by acting as a checking mechanism.

An INEC source told SaharaReporters that, without these electronic verification mechanisms, the presidential and other elections could be severely compromised.

Mr. Adoke’s affidavits, which are dated February 23, 2015, expose yet another attempt by President Jonathan’s associates to use incessant lawsuits to disrupt electoral processes decided on and announced by INEC several years ago.

SaharaReporters had revealed that cronies of Mr. Jonathan had filed some 15 lawsuits aimed at once again scuttling the presidential election now scheduled for March 28, 2015.

                                                      AGF Mohammed Bello Adoke

The affidavits by Mr. Adoke represent a new twist in the familiar plot, one legal source in Abuja told SaharaReporters. “The office of the Attorney General of the Federation has aligned itself with many litigants who are determined to use the courts to either scuttle the elections or stop INEC from using the best tools to prevent or drastically reduce rigging in this year’s elections. The use of rigging-proof electronic voter cards, which the AGF is now challenging, is an ominous sign,” said the source, a senior advocate of Nigeria.

Shakira opens up about pregnancy and motherhood, shares mission to help moms in poverty

Shakira ,38, and partner Gerard Pique ,28, have teamed up with UNICEF to throw a "World Baby Shower" to benefit vulnerable children.

The Colombian beauty Shakira shares why it was so important for her and Gerard to give back, noting how lucky she was to have every available resource during her pregnancy, a luxury which many mothers are never afforded.
"As the time of my son's birth grew closer, I was full of anticipation," Shakira writes, referencing her first pregnancy with Milan. "Nonetheless, with every gift that was given to my son through the generosity of family or friends, I thought of mothers who couldn't count on even the most basic resources for their children in those first crucial stages of life, who often don't have access to vaccines, clean water, or even a proper birthing environment. For these mothers, having a baby, however happy an event, is often a risk to their own health or their newborn's."
The singer talked how she and Pique partnered with UNICEF,
"To throw a World Baby Shower that asked for gifts to be sent to places where they are not only appreciated, but where they can actually save lives," adding the positive response to their efforts were "overwhelming and emotional."
"With our second son, we wanted to take it one step further, and invite other parents to host their own showers that help benefit other babies and mothers living in extreme poverty," the singer says. "The feeling of sharing a happy event with others by helping those less fortunate is profoundly rewarding, and made the birth of our own child that much more sweet."
Last month, following the birth of son Sasha, the happy couple debuted the first photo of their newborn while encouraging fans to donate to the charity.
"This time around, during my second pregnancy, like many mothers, I felt more confident," she says. "The questions that kept me up at night with my first now seem more manageable and I have more perspective about their importance in the bigger picture.
"What I never want to forget, or stop questioning, is why every child and mother doesn't enjoy that same sense of security," she adds. "My hope is that by the time my sons are adults, they can look back and see how even small efforts can have a big impact when multiplied—and that they take the time to tackle the big questions of their time too."

Ex-Senator, Zwingina wants PDP to stop Buhari for fear of being jailed

                                                            Senator Jonathan Zwingina

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Adamawa South Senatorial District, Silas Zwingina, has claimed that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, intends to send public office holders to jail if he emerges president.

Mr. Zwingina, therefore, urged his party members to work hard to ensure that Mr. Buhari fails in his bid to become president.

Speaking in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, Mr. Zwingina said “we have to stop Buhari and his plan to build more prisons to jail politicians.

“You know Buhari, he will send us to jail for between 200 to 300 years and it is the lucky ones among us that will get 50 years.

“As you know, there is no way you will hold office in Nigeria and go scot free if the authorities want to get you.

“Buhari is determined to send people to jail and even APC governors are not comfortable with him and that’s why many of them are not following his campaign team,” Mr. Zwingina alleged.

He said President Goodluck Jonathan is better than Mr. Buhari and needs to be returned to continue his transformation agenda.

“Let me tell you, that Jonathan is 1,000 times better than Buhari and that’s why people resolved to vote for our candidate, President Jonathan,” he said.

He also urged the people to elect the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Nuhu Ribadu as Governor and vote all other PDP candidates in the state.

“If you vote me, I promise you that I will not betray you'' - Nuhu Ribadu

The PDP gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa State Nuhu Ribadu has promised the people of Adamawa that he will not betray them if voted into officer in the forthcoming governorship election April 11 2015.
“If you vote me, I promise you that I will not betray you. I met just recently with Mr. President and he showed concern over the level of underdevelopment in Adamawa with the promise that Adamawa is among the states he will accord priority in terms of federal projects. In 2011 election, we gave the president 65 per cent and I promised him that this time around we will give him 80 per cent,” Mr. Ribadu said.

Nigerian math genius, Esther Okade, starts university in the UK at 10

Esther Okade who started her university undergraduate studies at the age of ten, is also known to be spending her spare time in a similar way to many other ten-year-old girls - playing with Barbie dolls and making loom bands.

She's one of the UK's youngest university students studying for a maths degree with the Open University. Esther enrolled three weeks ago and is already top of the class, scoring 100 per cent on a recent test.

Esther, from Walsall, in the West Midlands, isn't the only member of her family with a talent for numbers - her six-year-old brother Isaiah is already taking an A-level in maths.

Her mother, Efe, said applying to the university was "an interesting process because of her age.'' She added, ''we even had to talk to the Vice Chancellor.''
"After they interviewed her they realised that this has been her idea from the beginning. From the age of seven Esther has wanted to go to university. But I was afraid it was too soon. She would say, 'Mum, when am I starting?', and go on and on and on. Finally, after three years she told me, 'Mum I think it is about time I started university now."
Esther applied in August, and after a phone interview, an essay and a maths exam, she finally got the news in December that she had been accepted onto the course.
"She was flying," said Efe. She was so happy.  She is doing so well. She took a test recently and scored 100 per cent. Esther talks about running her own bank one day. She has a lot of plans, and talks a lot about finances. She says she wants to be a millionaire.
"Isaiah is following in his sister's footsteps. He is doing calculus and advanced algebra. Even when he was in my tummy Esther was already teaching him."

Esther isn't the youngest child ever to be enrolled on a university course.

• Esther is among the youngest children to ever go to university in the UK. In 1981 Ruth Lawrence, from Brighton, became the youngest person to pass the Oxford exam at 10 years old. She graduated in 1985 at the age of 13 with a first class degree in Mathematics.
“We had heard about Ruth, but we felt that it would be better for Esther to do her course at home. Perhaps when she turns 18 she can go to university with her peers and get the most out of it. But for now we want her to enjoy her childhood as well as her maths,'' Efe said.

Nigeria’ll regret if Buhari wins — Fasehun

Founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, and National Chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, has asked Nigerians to brace up for years of nightmares, if they fail to re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 polls.

Speaking at his Century Hotels, Okota office, while receiving Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon. Kingsley Kuku, yesterday, Fasehun said Jonathan deserves re-election on account of his achievements since coming to power.

He recalled the reign of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) as military Head of State and said he would not like to experience it again.

Assuring that OPC members will embark on house-to-house mobilisation for President Jonathan and ensure that he gets another four-year term, Fasehun said: ‘’I have been under the military before. Leopards don’t change their spots. What baffles me is Buhari has guts to attempt governing Nigeria again. It will not come to pass. When he came to power in 1984, he asked political leaders to report at the nearest police station. Many of them died in detention. That is the man who wants to come back to rule Nigeria. I don’t want to experience Buhari again. Four years of Buhari will be four years of nightmares.”

Apart from his achievements, Fasehun said he would mobilise for Jonathan because he has refused to abuse his presidential powers unlike some of his predecessors.

He said: ‘’For five years no Nigerian has been sentenced (extra-judicially) outside the courts. Jonathan is a democracy addict. He takes criticisms in his strides. We will work and ensure Jonathan gets four more years. Let Mr. President be rest assured that in this part of the country (South-West), any contestant with him will lose his deposit. We must go round from hamlet to village, from town to cities campaigning for Jonathan. Let us not lose the opportunity to enjoy Jonathan’s administration further. If we did, we will regret it.’’

Jonathan distributed dollars to groups while in Lagos last week - Gov Fashola

Lagos Governor Fashola alleged that during Jonathan's visit to Lagos last week, the president distributed dollars to all the groups he met with at the State House in Marina.

Fashola made the allegation while inspecting some ongoing projects in Ibeju-Lekki yesterday Feb. 22nd
"I want to assume that he did not make a statement that he would deliver Lagos residents from bondage. The question to ask Mr. President is whether he'd come to free them from bondage. He was here for 5 days meeting with different people and groups, distributing money in dollars. It is an un-presidential statement made in an act of desperation. That means he lived in bondage in five days if he had come into the state to free people. If he can live here for five days moving with patrol vehicles that we paid for, let him go and spend five days in Chibok and he will know what bondage is,” he said,

Boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown lashes out at her father on Twitter

The boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown, who is fighting for her life at an Atlanta hospital, unleashed against her family Monday on Twitter, defending his actions and accusing her father of wanting her money.

Brown is the daughter of R&B singer Bobby Brown and the late star Whitney Houston.

"Bobby seen his daughter 4 times in the last 5 yrs," Nick Gordon tweeted. "Now him and his family want Whitneys $$$."

Gordon has said he's been prevented from visiting Brown in the hospital -- an accusation her father has denied.

"Let me be very clear, Mr. Gordon was offered an opportunity to potentially visit Bobbi Kristina and he declined to meet the terms of any possible visit," Bobby Brown said in a statement through his lawyers.

"Obviously Mr. Gordon is not as desperate to visit Bobbi Kristina as he wants the world to believe."

The statement did not specify what the terms were.

Without specifying the details of those terms, Gordon's lawyers said they advised him against meeting them, "particularly in light of Mr. Brown's inability to guarantee access."

"In an effort to do all he can to visit, Nick has repeatedly offered to meet with Mr. Brown privately to discuss his request in person, rather than through lawyers," lawyers Randall M. Kessler and Joe S. Habachy said in a statement. "Those offers have also been rejected. We hope Mr. Brown has a change of heart."

Bobby Brown's attorney responded with another statement, saying Gordon has yet to tell Brown in writing what happened to his daughter.
''I've talked to the cops no lawyer. If Roswell Detectives know how to do there job everything is cool. #don'tfabricate''
Bobbi Kristina Brown, 21, remains in a medically induced coma at Emory University Hosital more than three weeks after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub.

Police have said they're treating her case as a criminal investigation after she was found on January 31 at her home in Roswell, Georgia.

The extent of her injuries is not known.
''CPR for 10-15min responding officer didn't take over until EMS came it's like re living my worst nightmare!!!!''
Her mother, who died in 2012, was similarly found in a bathtub. A coroner ruled Houston's death an accidental drowning, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors.

Brown is her only child.
