Incredible moment 14-year-old breaks world record by solving a Rubik's Cube in 4.9 second (VIDEO)

A 14-year-old boy has set a new record after he solved a Rubik's cube in under five seconds to smash the previous time set by another teenager.

Young speedcuber Lucas Etter beat the 3x3 record by 0.35 seconds while taking part in the River Hill Fall competition in Clarksville, Maryland.

World Cube Association confirmed the remarkable feat and a short video showed the fearless youngster solving the cube after first working out his strategy.

He then jumped to his feet in celebration upon successfully completing the cube as the clock was stopped at 4.904 seconds.

Despite Lucas beating the time, the official world record is currently in the process of being verified, reported Time magazine.

The previous fastest time was held by teenager Collin Burns, who reigned supreme for a total of seven months.

Collin had previously recorded a time of just 5.25 seconds in the Doylestown spring competition.

Collin's world record was actually beaten twice on the day, when Keaton Ellis solved his cube in just 5.09 seconds in the River Hall Fall competition, reported Fivethirtyeight.

His time will not be recorded however due to the fact that Keaton was later pipped to the post by Lucas.

The world Rubik's cube championship takes place every two years and has done so since 2003.

The first world record was set by 16-year-old Minh Thai in 1982, who solved a cube in a time of 22.95 seconds.
