Watch: Mexican judge who presided over appeals of 'El Chapo' murdered while jogging [Graphic Video]

The Mexican federal judge Vicente Bermudez Zacarias who presided over the appeals of drug kingpin Joaquin ''El Chapo'' Guzman was assassinated by a gunman while jogging near his home in Metepec, a town located about 43 miles from Mexico City on Monday.

The assassin ran up and shot the 37-year-old judge in the head from close range before he fled in a car with his colleague.

Zacarias was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries at around 8.30am.

The scene was captured on CCTV.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said in a televised speech on Monday that he ordered his attorney general to investigate the murder, but did not provide additional information about the case.
