Police drowns in canoe accident after bees attacked him

A police sergeant, Abubakar Musa, who was following up on a reported case has drowned when a swarm of bees stormed the canoe he was riding with three other officers.

The tragic incident happened at Gbachinku village, Lapai, Niger state.

According to the police, the sergeant was on his way back to the station after investigating a case that was re­ported. Musa was with three other officers who nearly lost their lives too.

The divisional police officer, Auragi Jonathan, who confirmed the incident expressed his sadness over the loss of the officer who was loved by all.

Jonathan said: “May God grant the family and colleagues he left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.”

The other three police officers are responding to treatment.
