In the short clip, a man can be seen dismounting from a motorbike as a young girl walks along the pavement in his direction.
She keeps an eye on him as he heads towards a gate – at this point he appears to be going about his job as a regular delivery worker.
However, as soon as he reaches out and touches the metal fence with his hand he turns his attention towards the young girl.
She then appears to talk to him and he can be seen approaching her in a seemingly friendly manner.
The man then looks around to see if anyone else is nearby, causing the young girl to back away slightly.
Suddenly the man moves in front of the youngster and after bending down to be level with her cheek grabs hold of her earrings and violently rips them from her ears.
Startled, the young girl runs off in the direction she originally came from, holding her ears.
The man quickly jumps onto his motorbike and rides away – almost into the path of car as he makes his way hastily down the road.
Hundreds of people posted comments below the video calling for the man to be identified for the crime and branding him a 'cretin' for stealing from a child.
