25th person dies from MERS in South Korea

Another person in South Korea died from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) on Saturday (Jun 20), said the health ministry.

The 63-year-old man's death makes him the 25th person in the country to die from the virus since the outbreak in May.

The ministry said the man who died had suffered from heart disease and diabetes. He apparently contracted the virus on May 27 in the emergency room of Samsung Medical Centre in southern Seoul where he visited his wife, who suffers from cancer, Yonhap news agency said.

Six more patients had recovered and were released from hospital, cutting to 106 the number now undergoing treatment, while restrictions on more than 700 people were lifted Saturday, leaving some 5,200 people in quarantine.
