Intel, where Grove worked for 37 years announced his passing and the company did not disclose the cause of death though the Silicon Valley elder statesman was a longtime sufferer of Parkinson's disease.
During his time at Intel, he played an instrumental role in the move from memory chips to microprocessors in computers and turned the corporation into the world’s largest chip company.
''Andy made the impossible happen, time and again, and inspired generations of technologists, entrepreneurs, and business leaders,'' current Intel CEO Brian Krzanich said in a statement.
Andy was also named Man of the Year by Time Magazine in 1997.
