Authorities in the Islamic Republic of Iran recently announced a crackdown on models posting ''un-Islamic'' photos on social media.
The couples were among several models and fashion agencies promoting themselves on Instagram until a crackdown led to their arrest in January this year along with other leading models named as Melikaa Zamani, Niloofar Behboudi, Donya Moghadam, Dana Nik and Shabnam Molavi.
Authorities in that country have arrested eight out of around 170 people identified as being involved in modeling on social networks, including 58 models, 59 photographers and makeup artists.
One of those detained was model Elham Arab who issued an apology on state TV on Monday.
''All people love beauty and fame,'' she said. ''They would like to be seen, but it is important to know what price they will pay to be seen.''
