The 59-year-old former minister of state for defence and one-time Nigerian ambassador to Ghana, who graduated from Oglethorpe University with a Bachelors Degree in History last weekend, took to Twitter Monday to celebrate.

''Looking back on my journey, I find that one thing has definitely made the difference in my life and that is Education. Soon after leaving Government, I traveled to the United States to take a break from Politics after 17 straight years public service. I believe Education makes the difference most times and a mind that isn't learning new things over a period of time is deteriorating. I'm happy to say that on Saturday the 14th of May, 2016, I picked up my Bachelors in History from Oglethorpe University, Atlanta. This Bachelors Degree comes after my previous one in Public Affairs and a Masters in Public Administration. I am Grateful to God for a Sound Mind in a Sound Body, and grateful to well-wishing Friends. I Pray that the Tongue of Detractors will always be silenced by our Achievements and may You and Yours always have Cause to Celebrate. When those who in times past claimed you have no academic background, are the first to announce your academic achievement, be happy.  In Public Life, people will say many things to bring you into disrepute. The goal always is to stay focused and stay winning. The Pursuit of Higher Goals leads to Achievement. Keep your Eyes Focused so you can Hold your Head High. At the end of it all, we must never forget those who should matter most in that moment of achievement, '' Obanikoro said.
