Rap legend Tupac's mother Afeni Shakur is dead!

Afeni Shakur, mother of the late rap star Tupac Shakur, has died in her Bay Area home at age 69, the Marin County, California, sheriff's office said on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

The department wrote on social media: ''Renowned rap artist #Tupac Shakur's mother Afeni Shakur Davis, age 69, died late last night in Marin County.''

According to the sheriff's department they were called to the political activist's home in the affluent suburb of Sausalito in the San Francisco Bay Area just after 9.30pm for a possible cardiac arrest.
Afeni was transported to a nearby hospital where she died at 10.28pm.

The cause of her death has yet to be confirmed and the department is now investigating.

''Sheriff's Coroners Office will lead investigation to determine exact cause & manner of Afeni Shakur's death,'' the department said on Twitter.

Afeni was a guiding force in Tupac's life, inspiring politically and also providing a muse for some of his raps.
