Ozil offered £280,000-a-week contract to stay at Arsenal

Arsenal have offered Mesut Ozil a new £280,000-a-week contract – but he may still ask to leave the club this summer, The Sun reported.

The 28-year-old midfielder has just one more year to run on his current contract with the Gunners and the club are desperate to keep hold of him.

With Alexis Sanchez set to quit the Emirates this summer, Arsenal don’t want the embarrassment of losing their other world class player as well.

Ozil has yet to respond to the new deal on the table and there are suggestions in Germany that he may have grown frustrated at the side’s inability to challenge for the title.
