Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres spent last night in hospital under observation after suffering a severe head injury during their La Liga clash with Deportivo La Coruna on Thursday evening March 2.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker, who came on as a second-half substitute at the Riazor, left the field in an ambulance after being knocked out cold from a clash of heads with Deportivo's Alex Bergantinos in the final minutes of their 1-1 draw.
Torres was unconscious before he hit the ground and he was attended to on the pitch before being rushed to the hospital.
The club confirmed Torres suffered a 'traumatic brain injury' and that he was taken to hospital for tests where he remained last night. They later revealed that he regained consciousness and stabilised.
