Antonio Conte Thanks Diego Costa For Contribution To Chelsea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte thanked Diego Costa for his contribution at the couch on Friday.

The day before, Chelsea and Atletico agreed a fee reported to be in the region of £58million.

The 28-year-old Brazil-born Spain international joined the Blues from Atletico in July 2014, scoring 59 goals in 120 appearances.

“We want to thank him for what he did with this club. We wish him all the best for the future,” Conte said. “Don’t forget we won together last season. I repeat: for sure we want to thank him for his effort, not only last season but in the period that he played for Chelsea.”

Asked whether the Costa had tarnished his Chelsea legacy by going to his native Brazil rather than returning to the club this season, he said: “I’m not interested to talk about the past. It’s not important. For every player, the past stays there.”
