Only those who love hungry and poverty will re-elect President Jonathan - Says Prof Yemi Osibajo

Vice Presidential Candidate of the APC, Prof Yemi Osibajo who spoke during a town hall meeting for artisans, tradesmen and farmers organised by the Lagos state government at the state secretariat yesterday December 30th 2015, that it is only those Nigerians who continue to love hungry and poverty in the country will re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
“No one is ignorant of all that is happening to us in this country. No one likes hunger and poverty; but people are hungry. In 2015, only those who love to continue to be hungry would prefer that the government in power at the centre remains there. By God’s grace, we would remove them from the seat of power. The people there presently cannot do anything, because they don’t know how to. They lack the capacity and capability to govern the country. I pray for the farmers and artisans that the Lord will bless us in the incoming year.” he said

Princess Kate's plan for baby No. 2 inside People Magazine January 2015 edition

A lot of things are going to change when Kate Middleton welcomes baby No. 2  and she's doing everything she can to prepare before her due date in late April.

At the top of her to-do list: making sure to spend plenty of one-on-one time with her firstborn, 17-month-old Prince George.
"She will be mindful that this will be one of the last opportunities for sole 'George time,' " maternity nurse Sarah Dixon, who has worked with friends of Kate and Prince William, tells PEOPLE in this week's cover story.
Prince William and Kate Middleton may hire a second nanny after the new baby's birth. And Kate's mom Carole often steps in as caregiver when her daughter is occupied with royal duties.

Two seamen die on Norman Atlantic Ferry

Two Albanian seamen have been killed on a tugboat while towing the fire-stricken Norman Atlantic ferry.

Both men died after being hit by a connecting cable between the vessels on Tuesday, Albanian officials say.
“One man died on the spot when one cable broke after it got stuck in the propeller. The other died on board a few minutes ago when being assisted by a helicopter medical team,” a port authority official in Vlore told Reuters.
Ten people had earlier died after the Norman Atlantic caught fire on Sunday off the Greek coast.

Rescue teams evacuated more than 400 people from the car ferry that caught fire off Greece’s Adriatic coast in a 36-hour operation on roiling seas.

Photo: Wall at salt warehouse collapses, leaving cars buried in mountain of white

An overburdened wall at a salt warehouse in Chicago collapses spilling a mountain of white crystals on cars parked at the neighboring Acura dealership.

The building is a Morton's Salt facility. Their iconic motto? "When it rains, it pours."
"It appears to be a case of too much salt and too little wall," fire department spokesman Larry Langford told CNN affiliate WBBM.
Thankfully, the tons of salt didn't hurt anyone but according to CNN's affiliate, WLS-TV, nearly a dozen cars were damaged.
The station talked with Michael Cristofano, one of the unlucky owners.
Cristofano dropped his car off for an oil change and is now thanking his lucky stars it wasn't worse.
"I first found it surprising and laughable. Then you start to think what could have happened. Someone could have been in the car," he told WLS-TV.
City officials say Morton's is working with them to make sure the structure won't sustain any further damage.
Meanwhile next door, the car salesmen are digging cars out instead of moving them off the lot.
"Usually it's a busy time for us," Noble Jones the general manager of McGrath Acura told WLS-TV."We're worried more about selling cars, not saving cars. But it seems right now we have to dig some cars out from the salt."

Justin Bieber sued after his security team beat up Wayne Rennalls

The man claiming Justin Bieber's thugs beat him to a bloody mess at a Southampton nightclub is finally taking him to court and demanding the singer pay up.

As TMZ previously reported ... Biebs' crew was investigated by police for the violent brawl last year at South Pointe nightclub that allegedly left 22-year-old Wayne Rennalls covered in cuts and bruises.

Cops weren't interested in Bieber -- since he didn't touch anyone -- but in a new lawsuit Rennalls says Justin's security team was on his payroll, so it's on him to make it right financially. In the docs, he also puts the club on blast for allegedly slipping drinks to then 19-year-old Bieber.

Rennalls says his pain and stress are worth big bucks. He's suing for an unspecified amount of cash from JB and the club.

Photos: Some petty traders ignorant of the new 100 Naira Note in Lagos

A source whom I am very familiar with told me that some Nigerian traders in Ijora, Apapa, Lagos are refusing to accept the new 100 notes, saying the money looks like a foreign currency and that the federal government have not announced its collection yet.
It may be recalled that the new note was unveiled by President Jonathan on Nov. 12th at the state house during an Federal Executive Council meeting and speaking on the new notes, Central Bank governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele said the notes will be in circulation from December 2014.
I think at this point, the FG need to create more awareness as regards the collection of the new note because not every Nigerian is aware of the new development....

See the back side of the new 100 note below.

Obasanjo almost went on his knees to beg AD governors on third term, says Segun Osoba

More notable Nigerians are still blasting the former President Olusegun Obasanjo for ‘My Watch’, his autobiography, barely few weeks after Wole Soyinka described Obasanjo as an overgrown child of circumstance over the same book

Segun Osoba, a former governor of Ogun state, has said that Obasanjo's book ''My Watch'' is filled with so many inconsistencies.

According to him, Obasanjo “almost went on his knees” to beg for support for his failed third bid, contrary to the claims in his book.

Osoba made this statement at the launch of ‘Watch the Watcher’, a book written by Yinka Odumakin, national secretary of Pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, as a critical response to the ex-president’s book.
“Many aspects of the book written by President Olusegun Obasanjo need correction. The Watcher (Obasanjo) wrote a book on which Wole Soyinka has given his verdict. I am also going to give my verdict when I write my book,” he said.
“That he (Obasanjo) does not know about the pact with the AD governors is far from the fact. To correct him, it was July 2002, he (Obasanjo) came to the graduation at UNILAG, where we met at the office of the old head of state. It was there that he almost went on his knees that we, the AD governors, should support his third term ambition.
“I am shocked and surprised that he wrote in his book that he knew nothing about the third term agenda, which he said God would have given him if he had asked.
“He was at the centre of all the negotiations to broker a political agreement between Alliance for Democracy and the Peoples Democratic Party in 2003. For him to say he knew nothing about it, I totally disagree with him.
“However, two weeks before the 2003 presidential election, Abraham Adesanya accused Obasanjo of trying to use military tactics to outwit us. He failed to keep to the terms of the agreement we had with him.”
Similarly, Ayo Adebanjo, a notable social critic, described Obasanjo as a man who does not accept what others say but believes only in himself.
“Obasanjo believes he is not corrupt but before, he changed the constitution of the party to become the chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT),” he said.
“I challenge anybody to come and show what the Yorubas got when Obasanjo was in power.”

AirAsia relatives in shock as Indonesian TV airs images of floating body

Surabaya Juanda International Airport was in chaos, dozens burst into hysterical wailing. At least two people fainted and were carried out to waiting ambulances, after Indonesian TV images of what appeared to be a dead body and aircraft debris floating in the Java Sea were seen by relatives of passengers from the missing AirAsia Flight QZ 8501, according to Times.

The Singapore-bound plane, which took off early Sunday morning with 162 passengers and crew on board and disappeared 42 minutes into the flight.

Official in charge of search says he is "95 percent" sure fresh sightings are from missing plane.
“As the search and rescue coordinator, I can 95 percent confirm [that this is] debris and objects from the plane,” said Basarnas chief Bambang Soelistyo, at a news conference just a short while earlier. “The five percent is simply because I haven’t seen personally seen them.”
He added that he was now dispatching divers to look for more debris in the area’s shallow waters.

The broadcasting of the images has provoked criticism, prompting a news anchor from TV One, a live news channel, to apologize to waiting relatives.
