Nigeria’s Super Falcons beat Cameroon 2-0 in Namibia to win 9th African Women Championship, their 7th African title since competition’s first edition in 1998. Football stars Desire Oparanozie and Asisat Oshoala gave Nigeria the victory after scoring the two goals in the match.
Twenty-year old Oshoala who won the golden ball at the Fifa U-20 World Cup in Canada, was named the Most Valuable Player of the Championship
Desire Oparanozie won the Golden Boot for most goals scored while Cameroon goalkeeper Annette Ngo Ndom won the Golden Glove award.
Nigeria also became the first African team to qualify for the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada when they defeated South Africa 2-1 in the semi-final.
