Prof. Ethan Schmidt shot and Killed in Delta State University in Mississippi

Police has identified the victim as Prof. Ethan Schmidt, an assistant professor of history who recently published his second book, according to an article on the school's website.

Schmidt was shot and killed inside an office in Jobe Hall and the campus was on lockdown at Delta State University after an active shooter was reported at the school on Monday.

The university has confirmed one fatality, and has urged people to stay away from windows. The campus remained on lockdown on Monday afternoon. Delta State has roughly 3,500 students.
