The Federal Government has declared Monday 12th and Tuesday 13thSeptember, 2016 as Public Holidays to mark Eid-el-Kabir Celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement by the Ag. Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido on Wednesday.
He enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to support and co-operate with President Muhammadu Buhari in his sustained efforts to diversify the economy and progressively accelerate the pace of economic recovery.
Dambazau stated that government was aware of the present economic challenges facing the nation following the downturn in oil prices, assuring that appropriate steps were being taken to address them, especially through revitalizing the agricultural sector.
He also said apart from the “Youth Empowerment Scheme”, a value re-orientation programme and other social Intervention programmes, the government has carried out a massive capital release all aimed at stimulating the economy towards the path of growth and recovery.
The Minister expressed optimism that the present economic difficulties will soon be over and therefore urged all to continue to support the government towards building a new formidable Nigeria.
