Toke Makinwa’s memoir ‘On Becoming’ dominates Google trend

Popular Nigerian Media Personality and Blogger, Toke Makinwa’s sensational memoir, ”On Becoming”, was top on Google search this week, an official said on Friday.

The Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Anglophone West Africa, Mr. Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, in a statement on Friday said that the search was from November 23 to November 30.

According to Kola-Ogunlade, major trending stories on Google search story this week include, the death of Cuba’s leader, Fidel Castro; Ondo Elections; Thanksgiving 2016; Black Friday; and Toke Makinwa’s sensational, newly-released memoir.

He said, “Makinwa’s new memoir, `On Becoming’ opened up a canker worm of revelations on her private life.

“The book concerns itself majorly with her anxieties, the insecurity and fears of her 18-months marriage, talks about her husband, fitness coach, Maje Ayida and his lover, Anita.

“In what can best be described as a holiday by association, Nigerians on the internet took to sending good wishes to friends and families on social media and wishing them a happy thanksgiving.

“It is a rather innovative way to mark the Federal holiday, which is celebrated on the last Thursday of November in the U.S. and Canada.

“It comes with a significant chowing down of stuffed turkey and some tasty foods.”

The Google manager asked if one could say thank God its Black Friday?

He said, “Black Friday comes just after Thanksgiving Day and we can always trust Nigerians not to want to miss out the `awoof’ of promotional sales and great deals from their favourite stores.

“Over the years, leading Nigerian online stores and shops across the country offer shoppers the best deals that make Black Fridays the beginning of Christmas shopping.”
