BREAKING: Airport Workers shut down FAAN headquarters over beating of colleague by Air Force Officers

Angry officials of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) protesting the attack on one of their staff members beaten to comatose by air force personnel two weeks ago, have barricaded the the headquarters of the agency in Lagos shutting out other users of the complex.

A witness, who asked not to be named, told Premium Times that activities at the FAAN headquarters have been grounded by the protesting workers.

He said the protesters were headed towards the international wing of the airport, and they seem to have planned their protest to coincide with the visit of the Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, who is attending a function at the international wing of the airport this morning.

“The minister of Aviation just arrived at the international wing of the airport for a function and the protesters are heading their as I speak now,” the witness said.

Two officers of the Nigerian Air Force, charged with controlling traffic at the departure section of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos beat, the FAAN staff, Mohammed Shuaibu, to stupor over parking disagreement involving Mr Shuaibu's friend who had come to the airport to pick him.

The Air Force officers attacked Mr. Shuaibu until he collapsed and was rushed to the airport hospital for emergence treatment.

Mr. Shuaibu is still receiving treatment for the injury incurred from the brutal assault.
