Two double-story factory units in Toa Payoh Industrial Park caught fire on early Friday morning, resulting in a massive firefighting operation involving 60 firefighters.
At the height of the operation, firefighters encircled the units with seven water jets and deployed the use of foam. An Unmanned Firefighting Machine and an aerial appliance were also deployed, according to a post on the Singapore Civil Defence Force's (SCDF) said in a Facebook page.
The fire, which involved laundry and paper products, was brought under control in 90 minutes at about 6.30am, it added.
SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at about 2.25am, after which two fire engines, three Red Rhinos, eight support vehicles and an ambulance were dispatched and arrived at the scene within seven minutes.
It also immediately deployed five water jets to contain the fire within the units and prevented it from spreading to its neighbouring units.
Mr Anton Chia, who called Mediacorp's hotline at 3.40am, said that from his flat nearby he could see six fire engines battling the blaze. Police personnel were also at the scene, Mr Chia said.
There were no injuries reported, and at 6.36am, SCDF updated that it was carrying out "damping down" operations at the scene, referring to the application of water to wet burnt surfaces to prevent the fire from rekindling due to the hot surfaces.
