Jubilant Gambians have welcomed home their new President Adama Barrow, who was elected almost two months ago but forced to flee to Senegal when his predecessor refused to step aside.

''I am finally reunited with my fellow Gambians.'' Barrow tweeted, ''Throughout the great nation of Gambia, never have we been more unified. Because now, more than ever, Gambia speaks with one voice.''
