Gambian president Adama Barrow on Monday announced the nomination of a senior politician Fatoumata Tambajang to serve as vice president of the country.
''I am delighted to announce to you all that Her Excellency, Fatoumata Tambajang has been nominated as the Vice President of Gambia,'' Barrow said.
Mrs Tambajang, a former minister and United Nations Development Programme staffer, was the architect of an opposition coalition that helped Barrow defeat longtime ruler Yahya Jammeh in a December 1 presidential election.
