A couple visiting Portugal plunged to their deaths this weekend while trying to snap a selfie with their kids on the edge of a beachside cliff.
The Polish family was enjoying themselves Saturday at the cliffs of Cabo da Roca on the west coast of Portugal, a popular destination for tourists, the Independent reports.
The family decided to capture the cherished moment with a selfie, but the parents somehow slipped and plummeted off the side of the cliff.
Bad weather conditions forced rescue workers to give up their search, but the couple’s bodies were eventually found on Sunday, according to the Independent.
Portuguese authorities are investigating the incident, but believe the deaths were directly caused by the killer selfie.
The children were being cared for by Polish diplomats and were taken to psychologists for treatment to deal with witnessing the deaths of their parents.
