Yohji Yamamoto Designed Real Madrid's Third Kit for adidas

It's official. Yohji Yamamoto designed the new adidas Real Madrid third kit team jerseys for the 2014-2015 season.

The black and white kit was inspired by Yamamoto's vision of a heroic story that positions Real Madrid's players as modern-day heros. On the front and back of the jerseys is the image of a mythical creature that is both dragon and bird, meant to symbolize strength, determination, power, speed, agility, and cunning. Yamamoto's signature adorns the inside of the Henley-style collar.

Being that these are for the pitch's best athletes, the kits are made of an ultra light fabric, which enhances breathability and allows elasticity and durability, and features the innovative adizeroTM technology.

Yamamoto has also designed the F50 Adidas Adizero Yamamoto Football Boot, which features a pair of different colored dragons. Players on Real Madrid will wear these bold cleats in their next La Liga match.

This isn't the first time Yamamoto has designed soccer gear. In 2013, he released a special edition adidas f50 soccer cleat. He also had a mythical animal design worn by Real Madrid's Gareth Bale. And given that Yamamoto heads the athletically-driven Y-3 for adidas collection, and Real Madrid is sponsored by adidas, the collaboration makes perfect sense. Real Madrid almost always has a step up on the competition when they hit the pitch. Now, with the help of Yamamoto, it looks like they're about to stunt over every other team's kits, as well.

The jerseys will be available in limited quantities—1,400 to exact—at select adidas, Y-3, Yohji Yamamoto, and Real Madrid stores.
