James Foley Mother Speaks Out: Gov’t Should Learn from ‘Mistakes’ + Video

Diane Foley, the mother of beheaded American journalist James Foley, spoke out in an interview today with CNN’s Anderson Cooper  about what she was told by the U.S. government while her son was in captivity. And she clearly didn’t have anything positive to say about the way the government handled things.

She told Cooper she was informed that raising a ransom was illegal and that the government “would not exchange prisoners, would not do a military action.” Foley said, “We were just told to trust that he would be freed, somehow, miraculously, and he wasn’t, was he?”

Foley spoke out about the “hatred” spewed by ISIS and said, “Our government needs to learn from the mistakes it’s made.” The full interview will air on Anderson Cooper 360 tonight at 8:00 pm.
