Acting president Yemi Osinbajo was briefed Wednesday on the security situation of Nigeria by service chiefs and heads of other security agencies in the Situation Room of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, according to Premium Times
Minister of defence Mansur Dan-Ali was said the briefing is aimed at “allowing the service chiefs and other heads of security agencies to brief the acting president on the security situation in the country”.
Dan-Ali said the briefing will allow the security agencies an opportunity to show the “unflinching support, commitment and loyalty of the Nigerian Armed Forces to the present administration.”
He said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has provided the needed support to the armed forces and helped the fight against Boko Haram insurgents and other security threats across the country.
He also said “weapons, communication equipment and arrest of many Boko Haram fighters” have been recovered from operations.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has redesigned its L-39ZA trainer aircraft for into a fighter jet for combat role.
According to director of public relations and information Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, the decision to do this was informed by the need to commit more aircrafts to the various Internal Security Operations in which the NAF is currently engaged.
