Legendary Director Garry Marshall is dead!

Legendary Director Garry Marshall died of complications from pneumonia following a stroke in Burbank, California at 5pm on Tuesday July 19. He was 81.

The legendary filmmaker got his start in Hollywood as a joke writer for comedians, which lead to a career in television. He created such series as Happy Days, Mork & Mindy, and Laverne and Shirley, which starred his sister Penny Marshall.

Garry started directing movies in the 1980s and some of his biggest hits include Beaches, Pretty Woman, The Princess Diaries, Runaway Bride, and Raising Helen.

In recent years, he created a franchise of movies revolving around holidays, including 2010′s Valentine’s Day, 2011′s New Year’s Eve, and most recently, Mother’s Day this year.
