Update: House Of Reps In Chaos, As Saraki Names Senate Leadership

The House of Representatives Thursday June 25 was thrown into pandemonium as some rancorous members disrupted proceedings, threw caution to the wind and engaged themselves over the election of House principal officers, according to AIT

The House was divided into two factions, one supporting the cause of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, which insists that it chooses the House principal officers, and another, backing the the speaker, Yakubu Dogara, who insists on defying the party.

The House and the Senate have been rocked by crisis over the election of their principal officers.

Thursday’s crisis began as the speaker arrived at the House to commence plenary.

Shortly after proceedings, some APC members began to raise points of order as some lawmakers rushed for the mace, the symbol of authority of the House.

Meanwhile, Senate President Bukola Saraki has announced, Senator Ali Ndume and Senator Bala Ibn Na'Allah as Senate Leader and Deputy Senate Leader respectively.
