IBB’s SAP killed the Naira - Buhari

President Buhari said the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) which was instituted between 1986 and 1988 by former military president Ibrahim Babangida killed the Naira.

Buhari disclosed this on Friday during an interactive session with BBC and below are excerpts of the interview tweeted by Sam Piranty, a BBC journalist:

''I went through devalue in 1984...it's SAP that killed the naira, '' I have asked gov central bank & others to sit and see if they can convince me to murder of naira. It's disgraceful Nigeria imports toothpicks, rice and tomato purée. Most of young people can't get jobs. One of the biggest dangers we face,'' Buhari said.
