Pistorius walks on stumps in court while appealing murder sentence [Photos]

Oscar Pistorius keeps his head down while walking on his exposed stumps in a South African courtroom on Wednesday June 15, as part of his defense team’s argument that Pistorius, convicted of murdering girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, is a vulnerable man who deserves leniency when he is sentenced.

The 29-year-old double-amputee athlete was asked by the Defense lawyer Barry Roux to remove his prostheses and Pistorius, who had taken off his suit and put on a T-shirt and running shorts during a recess, then hobbled in front of Judge Thokozile Masipa.

The demonstration drew gasps from some onlookers in the courtroom and the former track star and Olympian became tearful.
