Hackers threaten to name and shame millions of cheating spouses unless website 'AshleyMadison' is shut down

Hackers have attacked the cheating website AshleyMadison threatening to compromise sensitive data until the site owners shot it down.

AshleyMadison is known for encourages users to cheat on their partners and uses the slogan 'Life is short. Have an affair' to get people to create an account.

Speaking to KrebsOnSecurity, ALM's chief executive Noel Biderman confirmed the breach and said the firm was 'working diligently and feverishly' to remove its intellectual property.

 ''We're not denying this happened,'' Biderman said. ''Like us or not, this is still a criminal act.''
