Suicide bomber detonated explosives near Kano mosque after late night prayer

A 13-year-old female suicide bomber has detonated explosives on Monday evening July 6 after she was prevented from accessing the Umar Bin Khatab mosque along Zaria Road.

The incident happened just as faithful were dispersing after observing the late night (Tarawih) prayer, witnesses said. Casualty figure is yet unknown.

''She was trying to cross over to the mosque, but she was stopped,'' the spokesperson for the Kano Police Command, Magaji Majiya said. ''She immediately detonated the bomb and died immediately.''
