President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta and US President Obama speaking at a joint press conference after the bilateral talks at State House in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday July 25.
The 53-year-old Kenyan president took to twitter shortly after the joint conference on Saturday talking on gay rights that what is good for the American people may not be good for the Kenyan people.
''Terrorists will be defeated,' Kanyetta said, ''I have told Obama that our challenges are an opening of great opportunities. We have agreed with Obama to meet on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in September 2015. I agree we need more partnerships in the fight against terror. The battle on terror does not belong to Kenya, we are just a stage where a global war is happening. We are improving the way we fight terror and we will continue to partner. I am certain as we continue to learn we will defeat terror without anyone feeling marginalized. We must share frankly on homosexuality. There are some things we do not share with the United States of America. Gay issues are non issues for Kenya. Our issues are different, healthcare is critical, we cannot impose on our people values they do not embrace.''Kenyan First Lady during the State banquet in honor of Obama at State House, Nairobi.
