South Africa's Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu will spend the next two weeks in hospital on a new course of intensive antibiotic treatment, according to a statement on facebook from the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation on Thursday August 20.
The 83-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner was re-admitted to hospital on Monday.
The statement reads, ''Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is on a new course of intensive antibiotic treatment that will continue for two weeks in hospital. He is in good spirits and not in any pain. The Archbishop and his family were deeply appreciative of the prayers and good wishes of so many, his daughter, the Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu said. While her father was very grateful to the media for its concern, he had humbly requested journalists not to anticipate daily updates on his condition so that he could rest peacefully while receiving treatment, the Reverend Canon Tutu said. Any change in his condition would be communicated by the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.''
