The White House had been trying for months to secure the release of Fowle and two other American prisoners, Matthew Miller and Kenneth Bae. Last month, North Korea sentenced Miller to six years of hard labor for allegedly committing "hostile acts" against the country. See pic below of them...There was no immediate explanation for the release of Jeffrey Fowle, who was quickly whisked to the U.S. territory of Guam before heading back to his wife and three children in Miamisburg, Ohio.

North korea releases one of three American prisoners
North Korea has freed an American Jeffrey Fowle, one of three American prisoners on Tuesday nearly six months after he was arrested on charges of leaving a Bible in a nightclub, but Pyongyang refused to hand over two other U.S. citizens who are still being held according to State Department.
