Pics: 3 dead, 2 injured in midair collision between plane, helicopter near frederick Municipal Airport

Three people have died and two others were injured in a mid-air collision between a small helicopter and a single-engine plane Thursday afternoon in Maryland.
The crash was reported around 3:40 p.m. near Monocacy Boulevard and Bucheimer Road just north of Interstate 70 in Frederick, Maryland.
According to Frederick County Fire officials, the plane, a Cirrus SR 22, was en route to the Frederick Municipal Airport while the R44 helicopter was conducting a training exercise.


The site is less than a mile from the airport. The two people hospitalized suffered unknown injuries.

The two-seat helicopter was used by a flight school in Frederick, according to CBS News. It’s not clear whether there were one or two people on board at the time of the crash.
