Palestinian stabs Israeli soldier and is shot in West Bank
A Palestinian stabbed a soldier in the West Bank and was shot by security forces, Israeli military says.
The soldier was lightly wounded in Thursday's incident. Police say the attacker was critically wounded.
According to AP, the new violence took place outside a holy site in the West Bank city of Hebron. The city, where hundreds of Jewish settlers live in heavily guarded enclaves among tens of thousands of Palestinians, is a frequent flashpoint for violence. Hebron has seen near-daily violence in recent days.
The incident was the latest in a five-week outburst of Israeli-Palestinian violence. Eleven Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians while 55 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, 35 of them identified by Israel as attackers and the remainder killed in clashes.
