A passenger was stung on the right middle finger by a scorpion on a Portland-bound Alaska Airlines flight out of Los Angeles on Saturday night.
Alaska Airlines spokesman Cole Cosgrove said Flight 567 was preparing to depart when the incident occurred.
Annie Simone told NBC News that she was stung on her right middle finger, which became swollen and numb and required immediate medical attention.
"It was definitely a burn/sting feeling," she said. "It all just happened so quickly!"As for the scorpion, Simone said she quickly killed it.
"I felt it needed to die," she said with a laugh. "I'm a really kind person, but I murdered it."The flight was delayed less than an hour. It was not clear how the scorpion got on the plane, which had arrived in Los Angeles from Los Cabos, Mexico.
