World Bank and ADB acknowledge the declining rate of poverty in Nigeria - Jonathan

President Jonathan on his facebook said that the WB and ADB have noted the progress his administration has made in reducing poverty in Nigeria with the help of several policies that are in place by his government.
''Various international agencies including the World Bank and African Development Bank have noted that poverty in Nigeria is declining. This is good news that challenges us to do more.
We have put in place several policies to ensure that the poorest Nigerians are equipped with the means to overcome poverty.
Through the Millennium Development Initiative, almost a hundred thousand families nationwide are receiving Social Security benefits from this administration to the tune of a lump sum payment of 100,000 Naira and monthly stipends of 5,000 Naira.
Empowering citizens to create jobs is however the fastest and most effective way to fight poverty and this administration has made gains in this regard.
Through initiatives like the Youths with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWIN), the Youth Entrepreneurship Strategy (YES) and the Public Works Women and Youth Empowerment Programme of the SURE-P, we have been able to help our youths and women create over a hundred thousand jobs.
Surely and steadily this administration is working with the Nigerian people to put in place policies and infrastructure to empower all Nigerians to lift ourselves out of poverty and the world is noticing which is why Nigeria has emerged as the Number One destination for Foreign Direct Investment in Africa.''
