Chris Brown has been banned from entering Australia following his record of domestic violence.
In 2009, the 26-year-old American singer, who pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-partner pop star Rihanna, was issued with a "notice of intention to consider refusal''
Brown has 28 days to present a case as to why he should be granted a visa, after which a final decision will be made.
"People need to understand, if you are going to commit domestic violence and you want to travel around the world, there are going to be countries that say to you, 'You cannot come in because you are not of the character that we expect in Australia'", Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said in a statement Sunday.
Brown is due to perform in the Australian cities of Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane from December 9-16, and tickets are due to go on sale on Monday. He previously toured Australia in 2011 and 2012.
