Novak Djokovic lifts the US Open 2015 trophy after beating Roger Federer 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in three hours and twenty minutes on Sunday at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.
The 28 year-old world No 1 Serb won his 3rd Grand Slam title this season and claimed a tenth Grand Slam title, denying the 33-year-old world No. 2 Swiss an eighteenth.
''It's quite an incredible evening for me,'' Djokovic said. ''I'm enjoying this year more than previous years because I'm a husband & father. Makes it even sweeter. I was ready for the battle: 3 hrs 20 mins we pushed each other to the limit as we always do.''
"The whole American trip has been fantastic,'' Federer. ''Being back in the finals is where you want to be. I love the sport. I have a lot of passion. Last thing, I'll see you guys next year.
He added, ''That's definitely one of the reasons I still keep playing, because of these goose bump moments.''
Djokovic and Federer now have a 21-21 head to head record.
This is the second US Open title for Djokovic.
Federer missed out on the chance to add to his haul of five US Open crowns
