Governor Wada to lead State Govt delegation to Audu’s burial

The governor of Kogi State, Capt Idris Wada will today lead the government delegation from the state to the burial of the former governor of the state and candidate of the APC in the inconclusive governorship poll in the state, Prince Abubakar Audu.

It would be recalled that the governor had earlier declared a 3-day public holiday in honour of Audu.

According to a statement by the by the government, a 7-day mourning has also been declared in honour of the first executive governor of the state.

The delegation is expected to include Gov. Idris Wada, Deputy Governor Abayomi Awoniyi, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Adegbemiro Jegede, commissioners and other top government functionaries.

On the other hand, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to lead a delegation of APC leaders to the burial slated for today at Ogbonicha in Ofu Local Government Area.

In a related development, the family of Prince Abubakar Audu has expressed concern over the death of the former governor.

A family source who craved anonymity claimed the former governor might have been poisoned. She told Vanguard that the governor had to go through blood transfusion before he could vote on Saturday.

The death of Prince Abubakar Audu may spark a chain of activities in the politics of the state.
