Melinda Gates shares her experience after leaving Malawi, saying ''I carried 20 liters and it was tough''

Philanthropist Melinda Gates wears black glasses carrying a 20 liters of water on her heading during her stay with the Gawanini family in Malawi on Saturday August 1.

The 50-year-old American businessperson and philanthropist, who's the wife of Bill Gates, and the co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation took to her Instagram account to post the photos and shared her experience.

''During my stay with the Gawanini family in Malawi, I joined the women collecting drinking water,'' she wrote as she captioned the photo above. ''I carried 20 liters and it was tough. Meanwhile, Chrissy (middle) is carrying about 40 liters. Many women do this every day.''

In another photo (below), she said: ''Helping wash the dishes during my home stay in Malawi. Women spend much of the day cooking and then cleaning up. It’s a reminder that it’s a lot more time consuming to do dishes when you can’t just turn on a faucet.''
