A 3-year-old Syrian boy hit by huge shard of shrapnel lodged in forehead after Russian jets dropped bombs

Fadi was struck with a shard of shrapnel after Russian jets dropped bombs on his hometown of Gharnatah, Homs on Sunday October 4.

The 3-year-old Syrian boy was eventually taken to the Hospital Of Martyr Sauod in Homs, where surgeons removed the shard of metal lodged above his left eye.

Miraculously, he survived but the shock to his head has left him with a haematoma - swelling underneath skin tissue caused by damage to the brain - a hospital spokesman told MailOnline.

According to the publication, Fadi's family agreed for image to be used to show devastation being wrought.
