Manchester United won't put pressure on Mourinho to buy his own house

Manchester United will not put Jose Mourinho under any pressure to buy a house in the north-west as the Portuguese coach continues to live out of a hotel in the city centre, according to Daily Mail.

Mourinho, who was appointed five months ago and has been staying at the Lowry Hotel since starting his new job in July, described the situation as 'a bit of disaster' on Tuesday.

While new Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has moved into a city centre apartment with his wife Cristina and their three children, Mourinho has kept his family at their luxury £25million house in central London.

His wife Matilde is based there with their 19-year-old daughter, also Matilde, and 16-year-old son Jose Jr who has signed a two-year scholarship with Fulham.

It has raised questions about why United would allow a manager earning £12million-a-year not to make a firmer commitment to the club, especially as Mourinho has not stayed with any of his six previous teams for much longer than three years.

However, it is understood that United were aware of the situation before offering Mourinho the job and accept that he is reluctant to uproot his children from their lives in London.

The 53-year-old confirmed on Tuesday that he is considering a more permanent arrangement in future, like predecessor Louis van Gaal who rented a house in the Cheshire village of Hale.

But United will not exert any pressure on Mourinho to leave the Lowry where some of his coaching staff and new signings Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mikhtaryan and Eric Bailly also stay.

United insiders say there is no problem whatsoever with Mourinho's commitment, describing him as 'a workaholic' who arrives at the club's Carrington training ground early every day and leaves late.
