Several persons including policemen killed in Edo bank robbery

Several persons, including policemen and security guard were killed on Wednesday morning during a bank robbery that lasted one hour at Igarra, headquarters of Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo State.

The robbery operation was said to have begun at about 6:00am shortly after the state’s Police Commissioner, Chris Ezike, left Auchi which is about 30 minutes drive from Igarra.

Survivors are now receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the area.

The state police spokesman, Stanley Osifo confirmed the incident and said he and the state commissioner of police have been to the scene of the incident.
