Dickson visits Aso Rock, denies coming to see Buhari

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State on Tuesday visited the Presidential Villa, Abuja, ahead of the January 9 supplementary governorship election in Bayelsa state, where he is vying on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Arriving the premises around 2pm, Dickson headed straight for President Buhari’s office. Although it is still unclear whether he was able to meet with the President, since the Governor emerged from the office a few minutes after, he said he only met with the President’s Chief of Staff.

Having initially declined requests to formally address State House correspondents, the Governor was told he could not come and meet the President without disclosing the purpose of the meeting.

It was at this point that he denied visiting Buhari, stressing that he was in the Presidential Villa to see the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

On how he was preparing for the election, Dickson said the election had been won and lost, adding that ''The people of Bayelsa have spoken''.

The reporters also demanded his reaction to media reports that ex-militants were re-grouping ahead of the supplementary election, to which the Governor responded by claiming that members of his camp were always known to be peaceful.

''You know those who are always violent. You know that we are peaceful people,'' he stated.
