Borno Governor Kashim Shettima on Tuesday held a meeting with members of youth volunteers involved in counter insurgency operations, popularly known as 'Civilian JTF' following last week attacks by Boko Haram insurgents on some parts of the state.
During the meeting held at the Multipurpose hall of the Government House in Maiduguri, the Governor appreciated their gallant efforts and unveiled welfare packages for them.
Shettima also held closed door discussions with leaders of the volunteers with focus on enhancing community policing.
He announced a bonus of twenty million naira to the volunteers, while directing that any backlog of allowances be paid immediately.
Shettima directed the Ministry of Health to put a system in place that would guarantee free medical attention to all youth volunteers in all public hospitals in the state.
He also ordered the supply of more patrol vehicles to the volunteers.
