Akpabio: '$7.2b stolen by who?' There has to be limit to lies, propaganda in this country

The former Akwa Ibom State Governor and Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio on Thursday took to his Twitter account to deny reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) blocked over $7.2 billion secretly stashed in banks in the United Arab Emirates which he was making moves to hurriedly withdrew.

He said, ''$7.2b stolen by who? There has to be a limit to lies and propaganda in this country. How much did Akwa Ibom get in 8yrs? What was the total allocation to Akwa Ibom State for the 8yrs I was governor? What was the total IGR for Akwa Ibom State for 8yrs? What was the total wage bill for Akwa Ibom during my 8year tenure? I urge everyone to think before swallowing these lies & propaganda. Where did the money used to turn Akwa Ibom into an advanced state come from? We built over 2,000KM of roads, etc. We kept building & commissioning all manner of projects till our last day in office. We changed Akwa Ibom for ever. What they are saying is that we didn't pay salaries of civil servants for 8years. We didn't do projects & our wage bill were not serviced. If all these lies and propaganda is because of the pending Supreme Court judgement coming, then it is very unfortunate indeed.''
